Frequently asked questions

How are prayer times calculated?

The method is chosen automatically from the country you are in. Türkiye uses the method of the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). Many places, such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia and North America, use the official or most widely used method in that country; elsewhere the Muslim World League method is mostly used.

The calculation runs on your device and needs no internet. The country comes from your location or from the city you picked manually. If you see times that differ from the official calendar by more than a few minutes, write to us with your city and the date.

Do I have to grant location permission?

No. With permission, prayer times, qibla and nearest mosque are based on where you are; without it you can pick your city manually. Location is only used while the app is open and is never sent to us.

You can change the permission later in your device's Settings > ibbadah > Location. If precise location is off, prayer times still work; qibla and mosque distance may be slightly less precise.

I don't get notifications or the adhan.

Prayer notifications and the adhan sound come with ibbadah Premium. If Premium is active, check:

  • Notifications are allowed for ibbadah in your device settings.
  • The prayer is switched on in Profil > Ayarlar > Bildirimler (Profile > Settings > Notifications).
  • The adhan only plays when the prayer time begins; the early reminder has no adhan. You can turn the adhan off on the same page.
  • If your phone is muted or a Focus / Do Not Disturb mode is on, no sound plays.
  • On Android, make sure "Alarms & reminders" is allowed and battery restrictions are off for ibbadah.

Notifications are scheduled on your device in advance; opening the app now and then keeps the schedule fresh.

How do I restore Premium on a new phone?

ibbadah has no accounts; your purchase belongs to your App Store or Google Play account. On the new phone, signed in with the same Apple Account or Google account, tap Satın alımları geri yükle (Restore purchases) on the Premium page. Purchases do not transfer between iPhone and Android.

How do I cancel my subscription?

iPhone: Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions > ibbadah.
Android: Google Play Store > profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. See the Terms of Use.

How do I back up my progress or move it to a new phone?

In Profil > Ayarlar > Yedekleme (Profile > Settings > Backup), tap İlerlemeyi yedekle (Back up progress): your records are copied to the clipboard. Paste them into Notes or an email to yourself. On the new phone, use Yedeği geri yükle (Restore backup) on the same page.

Note: restoring replaces the records on that device with those in the backup. If you restore your whole phone from an iCloud or Google backup, the app's data usually comes along with it.

How do I delete my data?

Your records are kept on your device (and, if backup is on, in the backup in your own Apple or Google account); the app sends us no data. You can delete your name in Profili düzenle (Edit profile), your photo with Fotoğrafı kaldır (Remove photo), the prayer log with Kayıtları sil (Delete records), and downloaded Quran files in Kur'an ayarları > İndirilenler (Quran settings > Downloads). Removing the app deletes all records on the device. Copies in an iCloud or Google backup can be deleted in that account's settings. If you emailed us, you can ask for that correspondence to be deleted at info@ibbadah.com. See the Privacy Policy.

Why does the Quran reader use the internet?

Mushaf pages and recitations are downloaded from mp3quran.net on first use and then kept on your device. You can manage downloaded files in Kur'an ayarları > İndirilenler. Apart from the map and city names, the rest of the app works offline.
